GreenLight is a comfortable hostel with the up-to-date design and is located
in the central part of Saint Petersburg
Green Light Hostel got
thoroughly controlled and was received by the International Youth Hostel
Federation, which confirms its international requirements and standards’
qualification.
The Hostelling
International symbol has already for one hundred years been an international
hostels quality label. All the members of the
International Youth Hostel Federation are annually examined by the Association.
We have 6-bed, 4-bed,
and 2-bed rooms at your service. The kitchen is equipped with everything what
our client may need to make the breakfast, as for tea, coffee, or sugar, you
may just help yourself any time. All the rooms of our
hostel have Wi-Fi free of charge.
We do not have curfew,
you may come back as late as you wish that.
Some historical
facts:
In
1909, the German teacher Richard Shirmann organized some kind of hikes for his
students. All of them came from low-income families, so they were not able to pay
the over-night stays in hotels. That was why the groups used to stay in school
buildings which were closed for holidays and vacations. As soon as one decided to
set up the permanent places to overnight in the prototype of the contemporary
hostel appeared.
The
first hostel was opened in 1912, it was called
AltenaCastle.
Nowadays, there is the museum in its building, while the active hostel is
situated close to it.
In
1932, inAmsterdam the first hostel conference ran in
which the representatives of 11 countries participated.
In
Russia,
the first hostel was opened in
1991,
inSt.
Petersburg.
